Did you ever wonder why the Bible was written? Well, the verse above is the reason that the Bible was written by God to man. The Bible not only tells us why it was written but also tells us exactly how we can get to Heaven. In fact it gives us the only pathway that will lead to Heaven.
First, we must understand that we have done wrong and broken Gods laws in the Bible.
- Romans 3:10 - As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
- Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
We must pay for our sin. God is Holy and places a judgment on sin. Romans 3:19 further says that the entire world is guilty before God. What is the price for this breaking of Gods law?
Romans 6:23a says,
"For the wages of sin is death…"
This leads to the second thing we must understand. We must all pay the same awful price. This death is not simply the physical death but also spiritual. The Bible calls this "the second death".
Revelation 21:8 says,
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."
Third, There is good news. The Bible says God is offering us a gift.
Romans 6:23b says,
"…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 5:8 says,
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Wow, Jesus Christ the perfect sinless Son of God died in my place. Jesus Christ died for all of us but only those who accept this gift by believing on Jesus can be saved. Believing that Jesus died was buried and rose again to pay for our sins is required.
John 3:18 says,
"He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
How do I receive this wonderful gift to cover my sin debt?
Romans 10:13 says,
"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
If you have not yet done so, bow your head right now, acknowledge your sinful and condemned state. Tell God you are now accepting the gift of Christ's death, burial and resurrection to pay for your sins as the only way you will get to Heaven. The second part of the famous John 3:16 says,
"…whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
We can be saved from hell and given an eternal home in Heaven if we follow the only
Bible way to Heaven.
